The Carpathia Services Platform (CSP) blends people, process and technology to provide a unified delivery platform. CSP allows Carpathia to deliver managed hosting, cloud solutions and colocation services in an integrated customer solution across all our secure data centers. Taking a cue from the telecom industry, we designed our systems based on Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Business Support Systems (BSS) principals utilizing a service tier to allow managed hosting, cloud and colocation to all take advantage of the same common services.
Underpinning everything we do at Carpathia Hosting is the E3 Promise™ – simply said, Experience Exceeding Expectations™. E3 is realized by our adoption of the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v3. As one of the first infrastructure hosting companies to adopt ITIL, Carpathia has fully embraced its lifecycle approach to IT Services Management, ensuring the delivery of solutions -- from compliant hosting to data center colocation -- to customers in an efficient and reliable way.
ITILv3 breaks IT service management into a number of manageable processes that allows us to use our tools:
Incident management – Restoring normal service as quickly as possible and do so in a controlled way, allowing for root cause analysis to provide a continuous improvement loop
Problem management – Taking the root causes detected by incident management and proactively resolving issues
Change management – Using standard methods and procedures to efficiently implement changes in a controlled manner
Release management – Managing the release cycle and promoting changes into the environment
Configuration management – Tracking configuration items within a system, an often overlooked element of ITIL
Our secure data centers and network complete the story. Through our alliance with global data center services provider Equinix, our network of data centers includes 90+ facilities in 37 markets across four continents, allowing us to meet the geographic requirements of all of our customers. A number of criteria are evaluated in selecting data center sites including availability of power, Uptime Institute ratings and access to bandwidth. Carpathia has access to well over 6 million square feet of secure data center raised floor.
Our network is unique in the industry both in its construction and capacity. It is optimized to deliver traffic in the fewest number of hops to the maximum reach of end users. This allows customers delivering content, high performance applications and web-based services to take advantage of both price and performance. While many hosters simply use BGP to manage their network, we go one step further and implement route science devices allowing the network to continuously optimize its performance based on a wide number of measurements ensuring not only is capacity available but also quality is maintained.
